AIM stands for Accredited in Meetings. It is a nationally recognised quality assurance standard for the meetings sector.
AIM Cumbria gives assurance to meetings buyers that participating businesses are serious about the quality of their product and the service. AIM Cumbria accreditation is a health check for businesses and a business improvement tool for increasing your bottom line.
AIM Cumbria is ‘owned' by the MIA (Meetings Industry Association) and Cumbria Tourism is the first official licensed partner for the scheme, creating AIM Cumbria.
Cumbria Tourism is committed to further developing Cumbria's business tourism product, and ensuring that we increase our market share of the meetings sector. Using funding from the Northwest Regional Development Agency, AIM Cumbria is being rolled out in conjunction with a new business support and marketing package for the business tourism sector. The package, through the myplacecumbria, will enable venues to improve the quality of service and practices offered, as well as increasing the business opportunities available to them.
VisitBritain endorsed the MIA's Accredited in Meetings (AIM) scheme as the national standard for England in September 2008 and are encouraging all business meeting venues to adopt this standard.
VisitEngland are now encouraging all government departments to insist on AIM accreditation as part of their procurement criteria for meetings and venues.
