Following a site visit last November, it has been confirmed that in October 2012, Cumbria will play host to the Annual Conference of the British Ports Association.
Over 100 delegates and their partners are expected to descend on the region as they discuss, debate and network at a variety of meeting sessions and events.
Over 100 delegates and their partners are expected to descend on the region as they discuss, debate and network at a variety of meeting sessions and events.
The headquarters for the conference will be at a hotel in the very heart of Cumbria, so in addition to the key business elements, delegates will have the opportunity to experience a few of the many distractions that the Lake District has to offer, including: taking cruise on a lake ‘steamer', ambling around the many Lakeland shops, tasting the local produce or visiting one of the regions many museums & art galleries.
The event was secured to the region, following a proposal prepared by the team at myplacecumbria and a final bid to the organising committee by Janet Fallon, Chair of the Port of Workington Harbour Board.
